Why take this online course?
  • You are taking this course voluntarily to receive up to a 3-point credit on your Nevada Driver’s License record. The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles allows you to take this course for up to a 3-point credit once in every twelve (12) month period.
  • You may need to take it to satisfy a court order.
  • Students who satisfactorily complete this course may also get insurance premium reductions. Individuals should contact their insurance companies to find out whether or not they offer this discount for their customers.
  • Your employer may require you to attend a Traffic Safety School.
How do I know if I am eligible to take this course?

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles has reviewed and Licensed our online Traffic Safety School. If you are taking the course voluntarily for point reduction or the court requires you to take a traffic safety course, you are eligible based on the following qualifications:

  1. You have a Nevada Driver’s License.
  2. You have less than 12 points accumulated on your driving record. If you have more than 12 points on your driving record, you may not take this course for point reduction.
  3. You do not have any traffic violations pending when you register for this course.
  4. The court will not be reducing points or dismissing your ticket upon completion of our Traffic Safety course.
Should I be taking the 5-hour or 8-hour course?

At registration, you should select:

  • The 5-Hour course if you have received 2 tickets or less within a 12 month period on your driving record.
  • The 8-Hour course if you have received 3 tickets or more within a 12 month period on your driving record. This longer version is sometimes referred to as the Repeat Offenders course.

How long do I have to complete the course?

You can complete the course at your own pace logging on and off as many times as necessary to complete the course. However, keep in mind, the DMV or court has probably given you a deadline or due date by which you need to complete the course.

When do I get my Certificate of Completion?

Once you have successfully completed the course by passing the final exam, we will email you a course completion certificate and, if required, report your completion to the DMV. However, there are a couple of things that YOU will need to do first:

  1. Affidavit: The Nevada DMV requires you to certify that you (and not another person) completed this online course and passed the final exam. Before we can email your certificate or report to the DMV, you will need to email us a NOTARIZED affidavit to elkoduischool@yahoo.com – within 10 days after course completion.     Note: If you do NOT return a notarized affidavit to us within 10 days, we CANNOT report to the DMV, and you will NOT receive your emailed certificate.

  3. Points Removal: If you are taking this course for a demerit points removal, we will report your course completion to the Nevada DMV within 30 days. Before we can report to the DMV, you must email us a signed DS-305 form to elkoduischool@yahoo.com – within 10 days after course completion.     Note: If you do NOT return a signed DS-305 form to us within 10 days, we CANNOT report to the DMV, and you will NOT receive a demerit points removal.

  5. Court Order/Ticket Dismissal: If you are taking this course for a court reason (e.g., ticket dismissal, plea bargain, judge’s order, etc.), it is YOUR responsibility to report your completion by presenting the completion certificate to the county court where you received the ticket, once you receive your certificate from us.
How does the DMV know that I have completed the course?

If you are taking this course for demerit points removal, we are required to report course completion by submission of form DS-305 to the Nevada DMV within 30 days – once you have emailed us your signed DS-305 form and notarized affidavit.

How much does the course cost and how do I pay for it?

The cost of the 5-Hour Traffic Safety Course is $30.00 and the cost of the 8-Hour Traffic Safety Course (Repeat Offenders) is $49.00. You will pay for the course by clicking on our ‘Courses’ menu. We accept PayPal or Credit/Debit only. After payment, the link to the online course will be displayed on your payment confirmation page and it will also be included in your payment confirmation email. Copy and paste the link into your Internet address bar to navigate to the online course.

Do I need any special computer system requirements or downloads to take the course?

There are NO special system requirements or downloads necessary to take this online course. However, please make a note of the following:

  • You will need to have JavaScript enabled on your Internet browser to view some of the features in the course. If you don’t know what this means, don’t worry!! Most browsers (like Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.) are JavaScript enabled already by default. So unless you have manually disabled JavaScript yourself, you will be fine.
How do I register for the online course?
  1. After payment, the link to the online course will be displayed on your payment confirmation page and it will also be included in your payment confirmation email. Copy and paste the link into your Internet address bar to navigate to the online course. Once at the homepage of your online course, simply click on the “Sign Up” button or on the “Sign Up (New?)” link in the menu section.
  2. Select your course.
  3. Fill out the registration form.
  4. Review the information and click on the “register” button.
  5. After registering for the online course, you will be sent another email (that you should save until you are finished the program) with the direct link back to the online course – which you will click (or copy and paste) whenever you want to return to your online sessions. Check your spam/junk folder if you do not see it in your inbox.
  6. The list of sessions will appear. Click on the “start course” button to start reading the course right away or whenever you want!
Do I need to use the same computer or device to complete the course?

No; you can log-in, re-enter, and take the course using any type of device with any type of Internet connection.

If I am already registered and have exited after completing only some of the sessions, how do I re-enter the course?

Return to the homepage of your online course by clicking the link in your email, and then click the ‘Log In’ button (under “Returning Student?”) or you can click the ‘Log In (Returning?)’ link in the menu section. Then you will just enter your First Name, Last Name, and Birthday and click the “Login” button to resume the course. Don’t worry, our student progress monitoring feature will allow to pick up exactly where you left off.

What happens if I fail the Final Exam?

Per Nevada administrative Code 483.787 – if you fail to pass the final examination, you must wait at least 4 hours before you may retake the examination. You may review and retake the course online for FREE until you pass.

What information regarding my completion does the traffic school collect and maintain?

We are required by the DMV to keep and maintain student records for 3 years. Records include information on you, the student (including Driver’s License information), final test; student’s evaluation of the course and school; and a copy of the completion certificate. Be assured that we protect your private information. We limit access to personal information to our employees who need to know that information in order to perform their administrative duties and/or to operate, develop or improve our services. Individuals who have access to this information follow appropriate procedures in connection with any disclosures of personal information and must comply with our privacy and security policies.
